Professional Development in Northeast Ohio
In early August, the Professional Development team will work with 50 principals and schools leaders from a large Diocese in Northeast Ohio. The PD team will provide information and training on using Google Hangouts for the implementation of a videoconferencing program, which the Diocese hopes to use for administrative purposes and for distance learning initiatives. By utilizing videoconferencing, the Diocese will improve communications and be able to fully utilize resources that span six Ohio counties. Always looking to provide the most cutting edge resources for education, this Diocese is also exploring the possibility of using video conferencing and Google Hangouts to open specialized course offerings and to connect classrooms across the 35 elementary and 6 high schools that it serves.
Smart Solutions provides training on these as well as other topics surrounding the use of video conferencing and Google Hangouts as a part of The Digital Academy, a program designed to equip teachers to integrate technology to create transformational learning experiences for students.

E-Rate Funded Network Installs
Smart Solutions is in the beginning stages of two E-Rate funded network installs near Columbus, Ohio. The first project, a school district with over 2100 students, spans several buildings and includes HP ProLiant Servers, HP Procurve PoE switches, a controlled Aruba wireless environment, and a substantial amount of network wiring. The second, a charter school with more than 300 students, plans to split their project into multiple phases. The first of these phases will include HP switches, a new Aruba wireless environment, and an Allworx VOIP solution.
While each of these projects represents a unique set of challenges on both the planning and implementation fronts, Smart Solutions is confident that they will go smoothly. For the last several years, Smart Solutions has been ranked as Ohio’s top E-Rate provider for network products and services. Having won and delivered more than 40 million dollars’ worth of hardware and services to schools of every size, we have extensive experience to draw on when helping schools plan and implement their individual networking solutions.
